The NHS recommends that if you or someone you live with has symptoms of coronavirus:

  • Do not leave your home for any reason – if you need food or medicine, order it online or by phone, or ask someone to deliver it to your home
  • Do not have visitors in your home – including friends and family
  • Do any exercise at home

If you are experiencing symptoms, then you must self-isolate in your room for 7 days from the time that you first feel unwell. Once this time has passed  you do not need to keep self-isolating if you only have a cough as a cough can last for weeks after the infection has gone.

If you are living with other people who are showing symptoms then you must all self-isolate for 14 days from the day that their symptoms started. This is because it can take 14 days for symptoms to appear.

Staying at home means that you must not leave your flat, this includes visiting the reception area, social spaces or taking your daily exercise outside.

The Government have issued guidance that you should follow if you or your flat mates are showing symptoms. The guidance here covers using shared areas like kitchens, laundry areas and how to safely dispose of rubbish.

We would also advise the following:

  • Keep in regular contact with friends and family by phone but do not visit them in person
  • Make sure all your rubbish is disposed of properly by tying it up in two plastic bin bags.
  • In the event of a fire alarm, please evacuate the building as you would normally, but where possible, keep at least 2 metres away from other people.
  • Please be aware that we will only carry out maintenance in your flat if it is a safety risk to you or others.
